About Todd Reeves
From an early age, Todd used to listen to his mother’s old records on a vinyl player all the time due to his mother being consumed by the smell of nostalgia. He was always pushed to be more creative than academic, and he wasn't opposed to this idea. He loved what he was exposed to and wouldn’t change it for the world, instead, he wanted to make it his world. From the age of 13, he started to compose music with an old 1970's guitar and a grand piano to revive the pop classics and transform it into his style and his alone. To make it unique, he added samples from recent music of his generation like the synths in the album ‘Igor’ and the heavy sets of drums from ‘Jack Harlow’, this produced a revolutionary set of pieces that incorporated recent pop with classic pop and he loved every minute of it. After taking a two-year hiatus from his music to face the pressure of accepting his identity in the LGBTQ+ community and fully confronting the issues that arose from this confession, he is back in full swing; owning the genre with confronting lyrics and a Motown beat.
In 2017, Todd released his debut single; "Cashmere" which shared his political views and the struggle for the modern world to accept the LGBTQ+ community. He did not want society to put himself and others under a title, as shown from his lyric "Invisible segregation bars the love". This message elevated his status as a pop artist considerably, even to the point where he gained a top 100 spot on the pop charts. The overwhelming positive response boosted Todd's confidence and led him to release his new song; "EYES". This single culminates his powerful and overwhelming feelings towards his homosexual lover.
Todd strives to convey the openness of his love and represent homosexuality as equal to same-sex lovers. Todd presents homosexuality as natural and therefore he made it his aim to not include artificial sets and performs in nature to metaphorically convey the naturalism of homosexuality. Todd also performs in small town venues to present that he is just a normal person and equal to everyone else. He does not want his fame to define him.
